Jordan

1997 Jordan Chenin Blanc

Description

Spectacular panoramic views of Stellenbosch and Cape Town, cool hillside vineyards planted to classic varieties, and a modern family-run winery have combined to produce distinctive wines displaying the ripe concentrated fruity accessibility of the New World, with the complex elegance of classic wine styles.

Variety

100% Chenin Blanc.

Vineyards

The grapes were harvested from 14 year old south-facing vineyards, situated on decomposed granite and loamy soils, 200m above sea level.

Harvest Date

Hand-harvested on 18 and 19 March 1997.

Winemaking

40% barrel-fermented in new and used small French oak barrels for three months. 60% was tank-fermented with three months extended lees contact after fermentation.

Tasting Notes

A citrussy, fruity wine with a creamy, spicy complexity. The well-balanced fruit and natural acidity ensure that the wine will develop with further bottle maturation.
