Spring has officially sprung with the release of the Jordan 2010 Chameleon Rosé

Jordan Wine Estate celebrates the release of the 2010 vintage of their popular Chameleon Rosé, coinciding with the celebration of the 4th year of funding the Jordan Chameleon Research Bursary.

Shiraz and Merlot vineyards are specifically grown for the Chameleon Rosé using precision viticulture techniques, where satellite NDVI * imagery was used to determine the more vigorous vines perfect for the rosé style. “When producing a top-quality dry rosé one doesn’t want to use drawn-off juice as a by-product of making a red wine, nor should one be blending red and white wines together, so by farming particular vineyards specifically for the rosé one ends up with incredibly fruity flavours, lower alcohols and a perfectly balanced dry wine “ said Gary Jordan, owner of Jordan Wine Estate.

Proud members of the Biodiversity and Wine Initiative (BWI), this is the first of Jordan Wine Estate’s 2010 vintage wines to receive the South African Wine Industry’s new Sustainability Seal. “The release of this wine coincides with our fourth PhD student, Jessica Da Silva being awarded the Jordan Chameleon Research Bursary,” said Kathy Jordan. Launched in 2007 to encourage the research and conservation of the unique Cape Dwarf Chameleon Bradypodion pumilum living among the indigenous plants and shrubs in the Cape Winelands, the bursary is funded by a percentage of the proceeds from the worldwide sales of the Jordan Chameleon range.

“In African folklore, chameleons are believed to have magical powers,” says Gary, “and this inspired the name for our Chameleon range of wines.” Haumann Smal Design recently modernized the packaging utilising a brushed silver stelvin closure to retain the fruity strawberry and red berry fruits on the nose and the rich, creamy finish.

The 2010 Chameleon Rosé is available from leading stockists and selected restaurants in South Africa and abroad.
