The Chardonnay Forum of South Africa Appoints New Chairperson

The Chardonnay Forum of South Africa Appoints New Chairperson for 2011/13 Term.

The Chardonnay Forum is an interest group focused on raising the image and awareness of South African Chardonnay amongst both consumer and producer.   In January 2009 a steering committee was formed to spearhead events to achieve these goals.

Kathy Jordan, from Jordan Wine Estate, has chaired the group since 2009.  Together with her committee they hosted successful events in Johannesburg and Stellenbosch; aimed at both the consumer and industry players.

The Chardonnay Forum is proud to announce the new chair, Matthew van Heerden, winemaker and viticulturist of Uva Mira, in Stellenbosch.  Matthew and his new committee plan to host several Chardonnay-based events for the public as well as topic-specific workshops for industry members.  These events will culminate in a larger function scheduled for the summer of 2012, with the intention of raising the awareness for this noble grape variety.

The new committee members for 2011 are as follows:

Matthew van Heerden – Uva Mira – Chair

Francois Haasbroek  – Waterford – Vice

Kathy Jordan – Jordan – Treasurer

Mia Martensson  – The Winery of Good Hope

Philip Jonker  – Weltevrede

Rianie Strydom – Haskell Vineyards

End.
