Jordan Nine Yards Chardonnay 2024

The Ultimate Expression of Jordan Terroir. The Nine Yards Chardonnay is made is in a reserve style, from barrel selection from our best vineyard site. Stylistically different to our Jordan Chardonnay, with this wine we went “The whole nine yards”!

ANALYSIS:
Alc: 12.5%
Total Acid: 5.7g/l
pH: 3.35
Residual Sugar: 1.8g/l

APPELLATION: Wine of Origin Stellenbosch.

SOIL: Decomposed granite (Hutton and Glenrosa soil form).

ASPECT: East-facing, 250 – 280m above sea level.

AGE OF VINES: 34 years old.

TASTING NOTES

A style characterised by refreshing linear acidity and mouthfilling fruit textures. Classic Nine Yards flavours with lime citrus and fragrant oak spice.

HARVESTING

The grapes were harvested from the 15th to 26th of February 2024 at an average of 21.8°B.

WINEMAKING & MATURATION

After de-stemming, the grapes were crushed and pressed. The juice was the transferred to traditional 228-litre French oak    barrels, ranging from 80% new barrels and 20% second fill, from selected Burgundian cooperages (Damy, Chassin and Rousseau), where fermentation took place.  A percentage of the wine went through natural fermentation in barrel. The wine was matured “sur lie” for 9 months, with regular barrel-rolling to accentuate the rich, leesy character.
