In the cellar
The cellar team have been busy racking the 2020 wines, now that all of them have gone through malolactic fermentation.
The team have bottled:
Cold Fact Sauvignon Blanc 2020
Real McCoy Riesling 2020
Chameleon Chenin Blanc 2020
Chameleon Rose 2020
Preparations are underway for bottling:
Chameleon White 2020
Woolworths Chardonnay 2020
New & exciting wine:
Sjaak and the team have been hard at work, creating a De-Alcoholised Syrah, 2019 vintage.
Falling under the Chameleon range, and price point, Sjaak has been busy with a team off-site, using Jordan wine to create this wine.
There will be limited quantities available +- 3000 bottles for the first vintage.
Around the estate:
Alex, André, and his team have been hard at work ensuring that all the facilities on the estate are in tip-top condition and running smoothly.
A new lookout stop has been created at the Assyrtiko block, with awesome views of the estate!
The first viewpoint has been manicured and is eagerly waiting for guests.
Our picnics are growing in demand. With Spring around the corner, new picnic pods have also been created in front of the dam, just below The Restaurant as well as in front of the small dam, to the left of The Restaurant.
In the vineyards:
Up in the vineyards, the team has completed their winter pruning, ready for the upcoming growing reason. This year, the team has made use of electric pruners which has sped up the process significantly.
The expansion of the Assyrtiko block is now complete. In 2019 we planted 2347 Assyrtiko vines. This August we added an additional 2464 Assyrtiko vines to the block. This brings the total hectares up to 2.3ha of Assyrtiko planted at Jordan.
It has been a great winter, with enough rain to fill the dams on the estate and snow over the Stellenbosch Mountains, has allowed the vines to really shut down and rest for a great 2021 harvest.
We have received over 350mm of rain from May through to August.
We have not seen our dam this full since 2014!

The Bakery
The Bakery is wonderfully busy on the weekends with many locals craving a weekend getaway to the Winelands!
Rainy days prove to be a struggle with the limited space inside The Bakery. On beautiful days, the estate is full of visitors on all decks and small groups enjoying picnics.
As we enter Spring, we hope to have more and more beautiful days to be able to accommodate more guests.
There is nothing better than being able to enjoy fresh air, open spaces, and beautiful views on weekends.
Even though we are able to sell wine to guests, the mocktails are still a crowd-pleaser.
Chef Thys’ winter special: Lamb Rogan Josh with pickled aubergine, cucumber raita, toasted coconut, capsicums, fresh coriander & homemade naan bread, was a success and many customers have asked for it to stay on the menu!
Keep an eye out for amazing summer specials from The Bakery.
